Executive awareness courses updated and restructured

Executive cyber security training courses updated

We have just released new updated versions of our executive awareness training courses on cyber security.

Our changes are twofold. Firstly they have been updated to align to the latest best practice guidance, which in large part reflects better alignment between data protection and cybersecurity standards and practices. Secondly, we recognised that the executive level awareness course was probably too in-depth for many executives and also for smaller organisations.

So we have superseded our previous course “IS02 – Information Security Awareness for Executives” with two new courses, both non technical and aimed at ensuring all senior leaders are aware of key topics and best practice basics.

The first new course is an awareness course aimed generally at all directors, executives, or senior managers, who have a vested interest in information security and need a rapid overview. These executives are not likely to be accountable for day to day information security and reporting to the board as such.

The second new course is aimed at the director / executive / senior manager who is accountable for information security in the organisation, and who would normally report into the board. This new course, again non technical, goes into a broader level of detail and better equips the senior manager with a level of awareness to then better engage with experts and professionals, employees and of course report effectively back intyo the board.

In a general context, executives and senior managers working in UK commercial and third sector companies of any size need to be aware of the requirements for information security. They also need to be aware of the context of their role and the roles of others in defining and implementing company policies and processes, and in some cases implementing management systems for meeting the requirements of standards which the company may be certified against.

Information security is becoming more critically important for organisations of all sizes and implementing best practices will ultimately benefit the company and its customers.  Our awarenss course provide an overview and awareness of key topics and strategic perspectives for executives, enabling them to understand different frameworks and the requirements and best practice activities in the context of their business. The key topics covered include those referenced in best practices guidance as set out in the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and standards such as Cyber Essentials and ISO 27001 as well as references to related laws.
