Below is any example of an email that can be used by a group leader to send to employees notifying them in advance of your plan to enroll them in training courses. Please feel free to copy and edit this and send to your colleagues.

Dear colleagues,

We are registering all of our employees for a series of online awareness courses relating to data protection and cyber security. The training courses are provided by The Cyber Training Centre.

You dont need to do anything right now, but you will receive further emails and instructions. We just wanted to notify you in advance so that you will be prepared to undertake the training.

Why are we doing this?
These important awareness courses are necessary for the company to be demonstrably compliant with UK data protection Law and for compliance with best practices concerning cyber security which will ultimately help us meet a requirement for certification against cyber security standards.

Our customers and all stakeholders expect us to protect their personal and business data and to comply with minimum industry and commercial standards. If we don’t, then our future business is at risk.

We also need to protect our own important and business critical assets, including our own intellectual property, as well as the personal data of our employees.

What does the training involve?

The training courses are all online, and can be accessed anywhere so long as you have an internet connection. They can be accessed on mobile devices.

Each course comprises a several modules each of which takes 10-15 minutes to complete and the final module is an assessment to test student knowledge. The main modules include narrated slides presented in video format, and you can complete the training at your own pace. Once you complete the assessment with a passing score then you will be able to download a certificate.

When do we need to complete the training?

To meet our business objectives, all employees must have periodic awareness training and some employees may require more tailored and role specific training, so please complete the training as soon as possible once you receive the details in your email.

What happens next?

One of our own employees will purchase the required courses and be the “Group Leader”. They will enrol all employees on the relevant courses. Once an employee is enrolled on one or more courses, they will receive an automated email from The Cyber Training Centre with details and a link to the course(s)

If you are being enrolled on a course for the first time, and don’t have an account already, then an account will be created for you on The Cyber Training Centre. In this case you will also receive an email concerning your new account. Before you can access the training courses you will need to login by setting a new password. Details and links will be included in the email you receive.
